Segment Glue Up Jig
I
have created a jig to glue up open segment turnings without using
a lathe.
The jig has the benefit that it is used vertically so if you glue heavy or large
segments they will not be affected by gravity
while waiting for the glue to dry.
The
jig is built around a machined fitting that holds the index wheel and
a face plate or chuck. A tenon fits into a socket in the base that allows
the glue up to rotate. The remainder of the jig consists of a wood base, wood
column with a t-track that allows the positioning arm to slide vertically. The
metal positioning arm with stop provides for accurate positioning of the
segments.
